Overview
At Pixelz, we have launched a new FTP service that is more secure for our clients and requires explicit FTPS (encrypted FTP). Non-encrypted FTP services are outdated and insecure, and considering how important our customers' assets are to you and us, we will no longer support non-encrypted FTP connections. Explicit FTPS is already the default on most FTP clients, such as FileZilla, but this will not automatically upgrade if you set it up a long time ago.
In this article, we will show you how to switch from Non-encrypted FTP to FTPS with the three most common FTP clients:
How do I switch to explicit FTPS?
Good news: Switching to explicit FTPS, often written as “FTP over TLS (Explicit),” is likely to be as simple as checking a box on your FTP client.
It’s typically a setting you’ll see labeled “Encryption” or something similar in the General Settings section of your FTP client. This is what it looks like on the most commonly used FTP clients:
FileZilla
Cyberduck
Transmit
After checking a few boxes, you will be able to switch to our new encrypted FTP ( FTPS). To log in after the switch, you will also need to change the new FTP hostname to ftps.pixelz.com.
