Pixelz Celebrates Tết 2022

The Vietnamese Lunar New Year is a huge part of Pixelz's history and tradition. It is something we are very proud to be part of each year. 

The Vietnamese Lunar New Year, known locally as Tết, is the celebration of the arrival of spring following the Vietnamese Lunar calendar. It is the most important holiday of the year for the people of Vietnam. During Tết, people will often go home to their families and spend the week reflecting on the past year and looking forward to what the new year holds.

On the first day of Tết, people will spend time with their immediate families, and on the subsequent days, they will visit their friends, relatives, and teachers who hold an important standing in Vietnamese culture. In any celebration like this, food plays a critical part. People cook many different types of special dishes like Bánh Chưng (a traditional dish made from rice, green bean, pork, covered in banana leaves, and represents the Earth) and Bánh Dầy (made from sticky rice, Vietnamese pork sausage, and represents the Sky).

Each Lunar New Year has an animal associated with it. 2022 is the year of the Tiger. The zodiac sign Tiger is a symbol of strength, confidence, and braveness. People born in a year of the Tiger are predicted to be brave, unpredictable, confident, and display great levels of willpower, but are also kind, adventurous, and enthusiastic. The Year of the Tiger will be about making big changes, risk-taking, and adventure.

This year, Tết falls on Monday, January 31st. This means the vast majority of our staff will be away celebrating with their families and friends on that day and the weekend before. To accommodate this local tradition, we have decided to close down production in Vietnam on Monday 31st. Before that, we will make sure to deliver orders uploaded on Friday by Monday morning. 

On Tuesday, February 1st, everyone will be back well-rested and ready to catch up on orders coming in during the weekend and Monday. For orders uploaded on Monday 31st (incl. rejections), we are adding 24 hours to your standard turnaround time. Also, the Expedite service will not be available on Monday 01/31 and Tuesday 02/01.
